Privacy Policy

Vote Rev has created this privacy notice to explain how we use and protect information that you may provide while visiting our website and to demonstrate our firm commitment to Internet privacy.

Vote Rev may modify this policy from time to time so we encourage you to check this page when revisiting this site. This privacy policy is effective as of July 20, 2020.

Information We Collect

When you register, sign up to volunteer or subscribe to an email list on the Vote Rev website, Vote Rev may ask you to give us your email address and the phone numbers of those you wish Vote Rev to send text message reminders to.

We do not currently accept donations at Vote Rev; all donations are processed through ActBlue.com. When you donate through ActBlue, you will need to provide your name, address, occupation and name of employer, credit card information, billing address, and confirm that we may legally accept your contribution. ActBlue will provide us with your name, address, occupation, employer, and any additional contact information that you use when donating, but not your credit card information.

This information is the only personal information that we collect. In the event that Vote Rev collects personal information beyond what has been specified here, we will provide specific notice to users at the time of collection.

How We Use Your Information

We use this information to message third parties if users request it, send information about Vote Rev training programs, and assist with developing and evaluating Vote Rev programs.

Except as described in this privacy policy, we will never send any personal information that you provide to us, to any third party for any purpose. However, Vote Rev uses third party applications such as Squarespace to provide hosting and analytics services to Vote Rev. Squarespace collects IP addresses, cookies, information about the user’s browser, network, and device, and information about websites visited previously, to help provide the best user experience and analyze use of the website. The information collected through these means may be disclosed to these applications and other relevant third parties who use the information, for example, to evaluate the use of the website.

To obtain further information and to opt-out from data collection by Squarespace, contact privacy@squarespace.com. To view the privacy policy of Squarespace, visit the following link: https://www.squarespace.com/privacy

How We Respond to Do Not Track Signals (For California Residents)

Vote Rev complies with the California Online Privacy Protection Act (CalOPPA). CalOPPA requires organizations to inform users of whether the website responds to Do Not Track signals. Some internet browsers have incorporated “Do Not Track” features. Most of these features, when turned on, send a signal to the websites you visit indicating you do not wish to be tracked. Because there is not yet a common understanding of how to interpret DNT signals, nor a common definition of “tracking”, we do not currently respond to DNT signals on the Vote Rev website.

Other Disclosure of Your Information

Information about our donors and website visitors is one of our most important assets and therefore we keep it confidential, except that we may make it available to others for the following, limited purposes:  We may disclose personal information (1) when we have a good-faith belief that release is appropriate to comply with the law (for example, a lawful subpoena or the disclosure of donors on our reports to the Federal Election Commission and the Internal Revenue Service), (2) to protect our rights or property, or to protect our donors, artists and supporters from fraudulent, abusive, or unlawful conduct, (3) if we reasonably believe that an emergency involving immediate danger of death or serious physical injury to any person requires disclosure of communications or justifies disclosure of records without delay, (4) as necessary to carry out any requests made by you, or (5) to candidates, campaigns and other organizations that we believe are like-minded or that we believe that you may wish to hear from.

The provisions above do not apply to text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties except that (1) we may share your personal information with the third-party text messaging platform provider or other trusted service partners as may be necessary to send you mobile messages and (2) we reserve the right at all times to disclose any information as necessary to satisfy any law, regulation or governmental request, to avoid liability, or to protect our rights or property. Mobile information will not be shared with third parties/affiliates for marketing/promotional purposes.
