Odette Overton

SENIOR ASSOCIATE

As a Senior Associate on the Research Team, Odette (she/her) helps design and test tactics that better engage historically disenfranchised voters. Odette is passionate about using human-centered research to make American democracy more inclusive and has published research on ways to improve campaign outreach to voters of color as well as recommendations on how to reform U.S. presidential debates to make them more effective. She also lends her capacity to various nonprofits that support marginalized candidates who are running for office.

Before joining Vote Rev, Odette was a Deputy Research Director for a U.S. Senate campaign where she developed strategic political research, policy memos, and materials for candidate debates. Previous to her campaign work, she obtained a Master’s in Public Affairs from Princeton University where her studies primarily centered on democratic reforms and diversifying electoral politics. Prior to graduate school, Odette worked on legislative issues in the California State Senate and as a Senior Research Associate at a national jury consulting firm where she conducted applied research on juror decision-making behavior.

Odette also holds a B.A. in Psychology and a B.A. in Kinesiology from the University of Southern California. She currently lives in Los Angeles with her ever-growing collection of plant propagates. When she’s not trying to understand the enigma that is the human condition, Odette enjoys recharging in the ocean air, fostering kittens, and eating her way through L.A.’s abundant offering of taco trucks.
